For the reasons stated in my dissent to the court's entry of a supervisory order in People v. Gosberry, 93 Ill.2d 544, 70 Ill.Dec. 468, 449 N.E.2d 815 (1983), I would allow the petition for leave to appeal in this case and either consolidate it with People v. Payne, No. 56907, or hold it until this court renders decisions in People v. Cobb, Nos. 52944, 53038 cons., and People v. Payne, No. 56907.
