On Motion for Rehearing.
Learned counsel for relator have insisted in their motion for rehearing that this court has overlooked certain authorities cited by them in their original brief, but we assure counsel that the same were not only read, but carefully studied, and we are still convinced that said authorities are not applicable to this case.
Learned counsel also state that the decision in this case will cause hospitals, newsboys' homes, orphans' homes, homes for the aged, and other worthy institutions to pay taxes, and thereby seriously interfere with charitable work. We have not attempted to pass on the question of whether hospitals, newsboys' homes, orphans' homes, and homes for the aged are subject to taxation, for the very good reason that a case involving such question is not before us. If the taxing officers of the city of St. Louis attempt to assess and collect taxes from such institutions, and the question is properly brought before this court, this court will pass on the same according to the law and the evidence developed in such a case.
The motion for rehearing is overruled.
